I became a diversity trainer and facilitator after working as an academic during #RhodesMustFall and #FeesMustFall protest movements in South Africa, where I focused on decolonising university curricula. This work of thinking through curriculum transformation and decoloniality changed the way I think about education and its relationship with community, and inspired me to constantly put social justice at the forefront of my work.

I have written academic journal articles, book chapters and opinion pieces on decolonisation in education and other spheres of society. I am regularly called to provide thought leadership on issues of race, diversity, gender and class , education and politics in local and global media platforms. As an academic, my work in books and academic journals has been focused on race, class, gender, and developing socially-just curricula for diverse societies.

My work has taken me all over the world, including to Zambia (CPHIA), Ivory Coast (AU), United States (Duke University, Media Fellowship), United Kingdom Talks (Sussex University, University of East London, University of Nottingham Trent, Warwick University), Germany (University of Konstanz), Denmark (Oxfam Ibis), and Austria (Bruno Kreisky Forum).
